Just got my bachelors, now what?

January 12, 2025 (5mo ago)

I just graduated from NTHU – one of the best public universities in Taiwan (ranked 2nd nationally). I finished my degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science one semester early, completing it in just 3.5 years with a pretty solid GPA.

But then came the big question: now what?

I had two choices in front of me – either jump straight into the workforce or pursue my master’s degree. I applied to several graduate schools, including HKU and HKUST, and while waiting for their responses, I decided to try looking for work here in Taiwan. I didn’t want to just sit around and waste time – I wanted to keep learning, growing, and exploring what the real world had to offer.

During this period, I also reflected on what truly drives me – and I kept coming back to one thing: building things that matter. Whether it’s launching a side project, interning at a company, or solving real-world problems using AI and software, I realized that the best learning often comes outside the classroom.

So, I began applying to internships, contract roles, and tech startups, hoping to gain hands-on experience while staying mentally active. The process wasn't easy – a lot of rejections, ghosted applications, and imposter syndrome creeping in – but every step taught me something new about the tech industry and about myself.

Lessons I’m Learning Along the Way

What’s Next?

Right now, I’m continuing to build and ship projects, improve my portfolio, and explore opportunities in AI, full-stack development, and product design. Whether grad school happens or not, I’m committed to growing as a developer, creator, and problem-solver.

Stay tuned – more updates coming soon ✌️
